Discovery in the Arizona desert
While on a family vacation man named Travis E. Tumlinson, a police officer from Portland, Oregon was driving through Arizona when he decided to take a quick bathroom and stretch break. On highway 60, he pulled to the side, exited his car and walked into the desert east of Apache Junction when he tripped over a pointed edge rock sticking out of the ground. A bit startled and with new pain his his big toe, Tumlinson painfully observed the rock he just tripped over and noticed that it had some sort of engravings into the stone but, he was unable to fully understand what was etched into it. So, Travis began riffing and unearthed the Horse/Priest Map, a dual sided map that contained an image of a priest holding a cross that appears to be pointing in a direction, standing on stairs that has the year 1847 at the bottom. On the back side of the Map has a Horse, etched beautifully with words, in Spanish saying " Yo Pasto al norte del rio" and "El Cobollo de Sante Fe. The Horse Map does include another important thing engraved into it which is the number "5" surrounded by 4 dots in the designed shape of a diamond with a fifth dot off in the distance to the right.

The front displays a Priest holding a cross, standing on stairs. Underneath show an equation& off to the right corner in big bold letters is an inscription in spanish saying,

The back shows a beautifully in-scripted horse in the center og the stone with the word "Rio" meaning "River " off to the left .
in Spanish, there are two more phrases, on the left it says

The Trail & Heart
THE 2nd TRIP
The front sides of the trail maps show a variety of locations and surrounding mountain ranges. The dotted lines show the trail in which one has to take to find the Heart. When the Heart is removed you see the number 1847 with 10 & Triangle.
The Heart piece that fits inside the 2nd part of the trail map can be removed and flipped over showing a number of caches or blocks. Both maps together show the completed trail with the end, showing the location of the Heart!
The back sides are rather plain and right to the point. Part 1 bares a massive name "DON" who is believe to be one of the original Peralta Family members who owned mines throughout the area. Part 2 show a massive cross outlined into the stone and if something were to fit inside of it.
The back side of the Heart shows 6 rectangular objects, some believe they are caches, tombs, or 6 ares to look once you find the Heart. Either way, its not very helpful to the newcomer of the topic. Does the number 1847 play a part into it?

The Treasure of the Church of Santa Fe
After reading the translation on the rest of the cross, it would be a safe assumption to the Treasure is located inside the cave of Someo Mountain. Someo, is a village in the Alps, known for its mountainous surroundings. Why would the Treasure of Santa Fe have been removed and taken to the Alps, but the maps are found in Arizona?
An Idea Is Born
These images of the Crosses on the back of the stones are pivotal! Placing the crosses on the back of the trail map, puts you in the position of the Priest on its map. This helps you understand what in front of you.

This discovery came by the way of a book! Bob Ward's "Ripples of Lost Echoes " shows drawings of the Latin Heart with detail information from both sides. This Stone is the most important of all the Stones. We are only showing the side with the numbers & the landmark side will be placed in the story line.
WHO MADE THESE STONES?

Someone took the time & effort to create these stones, but who?
There are clues as to who created them but, no one knows for sure who exactly created the Peralta Stone maps, where the trail ends, and what exactly is at the end of said trail!
WHO ARE THE STONES NAMED AFTER?
THE PERALTA'S
The Peralta Stones are named after the Mexican mining family know as the Peralta's. In 1848, the were unfortunately massacred by the Apaches
History of the Peralta family :
They were supposedly the powerful family in Sonora, during the 1840's, stationed in Arizpe. At this time, the Arizona territory was apart of Mexico.
Don Miguel Peralta was the head of this family. He had investments in land and mining . He discovered gold mines, called "Las Minas de la Sombreras" "the Sombrero Mines", located in Superstition Mountains which was apache territory .
The Peralta's mined the are many times but the last trip took place in 1847. The Apaches had enough because this land is sacred (the land of the Thunder God), and Peraltas refused to stop.
Don Miguel's son, Gonzales Peralta, survived and created maps to the mines.
Miguel Peralta was saved during a fight by Germans named Jacob Waltz/Jacob Weisner, who eventually showed them the maps.
Don Miguel Peralta helped renovate a Jesuit Church in Arizpe and was given a strange map discovered in the archives. This map indicated the place of the mines, and that's how the Peraltas discovered it, in 1847.
This map was possibly written by the Jesuit Father Eusebio Kino who is to believed to have had is own mine that the
Peraltas took over after the Jesuits were expelled from the new world. The Peralta's last expedition led to an ambush by the Apache Indians, killing most of the family members and this is where its believed that the Stones fell out of the saddle packs and laid in the Arizona Desert for exactly 100 years.
THE POPULAR VERSION
THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE
The famous & most likable version about who made them points to the Lost Dutchman!
Popular opinion says the the Peralta Stone maps lead the Lost Dutchman mine that is supposedly in the Superstition mountains. That would mean that the Lost Dutchman mine & the Peralta mine, are the same. There is not a lot of evidence that shows that Waltz and the Peraltas were extremely close to one another. The time frame shows that they were in the same areas at certain periods however, no written accounts show that they were working the same exact mine. In addition, the dates that are on the stones are 1751 and 1847. The earliest documentation of Jacob Waltz even being in the U.S. is dated 1848 & Waltz was German, so why create maps in Spanish if he were trying to keep them a secret, he could of written them in German. One of the clues that the Dutchman left behind hints to Weavers Needle and on the trail map, there looks like a location that resembles Weavers Needle in the area. But is that enough to assume that they (the stones) lead to the Lost Dutchman mine or could this famous mine just be 1 of many locations that the Stone maps show depicted.
